Set during an era when the voices of women living with HIV often remained unheard, Sheila breaks barriers and champions the rights of women with HIV, opening her living room doors to support them. Sheila navigates her struggles and strengths, bringing together women living with HIV to create Positively Women.
Working with Positively UK, Dr Kat Low and Maryam Shaharuddin, Chuck created a short teaser using verbatim performance techniques from Sheila's diaries. This short is part of a larger collaborative research project, working with Positively UK's archive, exploring the past, present and future of women living with HIV. We have published a paper on our research, which can be found here. As a collective, they are now looking to develop a longer form documentary combining verbatim performance, archive material and contemporary interviews.
